Kozluk castle, also called Hezo, stands on a rocky hill in the triangle between Hasankeyf, Siirt and Maiferkeyn — Silvan — and was one of the important castles of the Erzen region. It was built in AD 416 as a religious centre for the Persian dynasty, and in time came to command all the traffic through the area as a base on the Silk Road.
It remained attached to the Persian empire for many years, and in the fifth century it was the seat of a Nestorian bishopric; in AD 639 it was taken by the Muslim armies under İyaz bin Ganem. It is in the Kale quarter of Kozluk. The source says nothing about its condition today.
