Troya Historical National Park covers 13,627 hectares in Ezine district of Çanakkale province and was declared on 6 November 1996. Its page describes the protected landscape rather than the excavated city: it says nothing about the archaeological site, which our inventory holds as a separate record with its own page.
The vegetation is Aegean maquis and woodland — terebinth, myrtle, kermes oak, chaste tree, Turkish hazel, thorny burnet, hairy rock rose, tree heath, stone pine, red pine, Valonia oak, wild pear, elm, cypress and almond. On the coastal dunes at Papaz beach and the Orhaniye sands grow sea holly, sea medick, spurge and sea clover, with club-rush, tamarisk, duckweed, reeds and rushes in the wet ground.
Among the animals recorded are mullet and goby, a small newt, the European pond turtle, black kite, black stork, herons, bee-eater, hedgehog, ground squirrel, hare and dormouse.
The directorate lists camping, trekking, photography, plant and animal study and birdwatching as what the area can support, and leaves its facilities section empty. Capacity is 2,597 visitors, 318 vehicles and 100 tents, with hours of 08:00 to 20:00. The park is 25.7 kilometres from Ezine and 29.8 from Çanakkale city.
