Tatlıca Tabiat Parkı was registered on 11 July 2011 and lies at Tatlıca village in Sinop; the Directorate names the district as Erfelek in its text and Ayancık in its record, and gives the area as 70 hectares in one place and 72 in the other. Its development plan, with an approved landscape and implementation project, was approved on 19 April 2019.
Twenty-eight waterfalls are what this park is. They were made by the Gülleyük stream, one of the smaller tributaries in the middle course of the Karasu: as the stream cut down into its bed, it fell over the exposed edges of the rock layers, and the falls line the valley one above another like a flight of stairs.
The figures explain why. The stream drains 675 hectares over a length of about 4.5 kilometres. It rises on the north-facing slopes of Soğukoluk — also called Isırganlık — one of the highest summits in the district at 1,215 metres, and joins the Karasu at 445 metres. The difference of 770 metres over that distance gives an average bed gradient of about 17 per cent.
Beech, oak, hornbeam, hazel, chestnut, fir, alder, plane, willow, strawberry tree, cornelian cherry, medlar, bramble and ivy grow here, and among the animals are roe deer, wild boar, wolf, jackal, fox, lynx, marten, weasel, hare, squirrel, woodcock, quail, jay and coot.
Stated capacity is 1,000 visitors and 100 vehicles. The nearest settlement is Tatlıca village, 2 kilometres away; Erfelek is 18 kilometres, Ayancık 35 and Sinop 44. A road being built near the Erfelek dam will cross to the other side of the Karasu and become the main approach; for now, village roads via Hatip village in the Ayancık district are the alternative.
