Akgöl Tabiat Parkı covers 40.01 hectares in Sinop and was registered in late May 2018. The Directorate places it in the Boyabat district in its record and south of Ayancık in its text.
The lake is artificial: it formed where two streams running through the dense fir forest around it were brought together, and the park is that pond and its surroundings.
Fir, beech, Scots pine and black pine dominate the forest, growing pure or mixed, and aspen, sessile oak, maple, yew and wild service tree occur frequently among them. Within the park and around it 109 vertebrate species have been recorded: 19 mammals, 71 birds, 5 amphibians, 11 reptiles and 3 fish.
Facilities are a day-use area, a children's playground, a viewing terrace and lavatories with a prayer room, and stated capacity is 500 visitors and 100 vehicles. Distances are long in every direction: Ayancık is 38 kilometres away, Erfelek 61, Yeniçam 68, Demirciköy 103, Gerze 100 and Sinop 115, with Sinop airport at 91.
