The church of Sveti Georgi stands in the Kiyik quarter of Edirne, where Bulgarian citizens lived in numbers in the nineteenth century, and it is still in use for worship after restoration. It was built in 1880, with the permission of Abdülhamid II, and is known locally as the Bulgarian church.
It is a three-aisled basilica in the Renaissance manner, of cut stone and brick, with a bell tower rising directly above the main door. The floor is laid in marble and the interior is furnished with a great many icons. It is on Sv. Georgi kilisesi Sokak in the Barutluk quarter, reachable by city transport.
