The monument and museum together make up a complex raised in memory of the Balkan War and those who fell in it, dated to 26 March 1913. Sükrü Paşa defended Edirne through the war in conditions of great want, and his grave was brought to Kiyik Tabya, one of the city's defensive positions, where the monument was built in his memory.
In the redoubt beside it a museum was formed that tells the story of the Balkan Wars, made up of objects of that period held by the people of Edirne. It is at Buçuktepe and is reached by city transport.
