The military cemetery at Sarayiçi was built in 1994 in memory of the 300,000 who fell against the enemy occupation in the Balkan War, and of the 20,000 left without food or water at Sarayiçi in 1913 and so condemned to death. Laid out by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, it carries names from every corner of Türkiye.
The Balkan Martyrs' Monument, built in 1939, stands within the same grounds. The site is reached by city transport.
