The medrese standing today was rebuilt: the original was pulled down in the 1930s, and the entrance and the parts that could be established were restored in keeping with it. Its inscription is in the Kütahya Archaeology Museum.
The building was put up in 1550 by Rüstem Paşa, grand vizier and son-in-law of Süleyman the Magnificent, and is counted among the old buildings of Kütahya. It is on Balıklı Caddesi, 300 metres from the centre.
