This house in Gölhisar, Burdur, was built in 1928 by the teacher Mustafa Sırrı Özkan as one of the model houses reflecting the traditional architecture of the town. It is a typical example of vernacular building: two storeys holding a sitting room, a guest room, bedrooms, the hearth that served as the kitchen, the shelves for stacking crockery, and the sherbet cupboard, bedding closet and washing cubicle. A balcony with an oriel under a hipped roof sits between the windows of the upper floor, and a wooden stair of twenty steps leads from the hall up to the cihannuma, the lookout room at the top.
Built in the first years of the republic, the house also served as the village guest house where officials of the period were received. Most of the objects displayed in it are the things the Özkan family used over six generations. To these the district governor's office, the municipality and the public education centre added ethnographic pieces gathered from the surrounding area, and the house is now arranged as a museum house. It is on Şehit Mehmet Ali Özer Caddesi in the Konak quarter of Gölhisar.
