This bridge does not stand where it was built. In 1998, for the construction of the four-track city railway at İzmit, it was taken down by decision of the conservation board and rebuilt 50 metres further downstream.
It was built over the Kilezdere in the Ottoman period, in the sixteenth century, originally with five spans and of cut stone. It is nine kilometres from the centre of Kocaeli, in the Başiskele district, and is reached by road.
