Karanlıkdere canyon is near Ballık village in the Altınyayla district of Burdur — Dirmil, as the district was called — and it is about an hour by car from the district centre.
Cedar, pine, juniper and oak cover it and its plant life is rich; the geological formations rising hundreds of metres are what people come to see. The canyon suits mountaineering and walking.
