Deregöl was declared a nature park on 7 April 2023 for its natural assets and recreational potential, covering 154.46 hectares in Bolu. It is closed to visitors and has no facilities.
Scots pine, fir and black pine are the main trees, with junipers in places, and oriental arborvitae, hawthorn, dog rose and wild pear among the other species on the site. The animals recorded, from the published literature together with observation on the ground, are fox, wolf, bear, wild boar, brown hare, beech marten and squirrel among mammals, and eagle, buzzard, sparrowhawk, kestrel, owl, rock dove, skylark, wheatears, sparrow, starling, magpie, carrion crow, jackdaw, quail and chukar among birds.
The site lies outside the built-up boundary of the Yeniçağa district, about 12 kilometres from the town by road — 11.5 kilometres of asphalt and 1,500 metres of unsurfaced track — and roughly 50 kilometres from the centre of Bolu.
