Akdoğan and Rüzgarlar Ebe Pine Nature Conservation Area is used for educational purposes only, and there are no facilities of any kind inside it; the area record nevertheless lists opening hours of 09:00 to 18:00. It comes in two separate blocks near Bolu city, Akdoğan about 20 kilometres away and Rüzgarlar about 17, together covering 193.09 hectares, and it was declared on 16 August 1988.
What is protected is the Ebe pine, Pinus nigra subsp. pallasiana var. seneriana, a rare and endangered variety whose only natural range in the world, the directorate says, is here. It is a short plant, 3.5 to 8 metres tall, growing as a shrub or a tree, many-branched from the base with a rounded crown, and with needles and cones smaller than those of the parent species. Many healthy individuals grow in the area, and the directorate records something the literature does not: while published sources give a maximum of 8 metres, trees of around 15 metres stand here.
The habitat as a whole is entirely natural and has kept its integrity intact, with pure natural black pine stands dominating it. Black pine and oak are the other main trees. Wild boar, stone marten, weasel, brown hare, wolf, jackal and fox are the mammals recorded, and turtle dove, wood pigeon, collared dove and cuckoo the birds.
Both blocks lie close to the main road. The Rüzgarlar section is at the 17th kilometre of the Bolu-Ankara motorway and the D-100 in the Ankara direction, 700 metres south of them; the Akdoğan section is at the 22nd kilometre on the northern side, 1.5 kilometres from the roads.
