Berçelan yayla lies eighteen kilometres north of Hakkari and is used the way the other pastures here are used: local people move up in summer to graze their animals and work their produce, living in the traditional black tents. The ground around it suits mountaineering, skiing and walking, and the flora is good.
Seyithan, a glacial lake near the pasture, gives the area a character of its own. West of Berçelan is the Golan yayla, which is described as well placed to become the region's principal ski centre; it is fifteen kilometres away by road.
