Zigana Yaylası sits at 2,032 metres and, unlike most plateaus in the region, it has working services rather than only pasture.
The provincial directorate lists electricity, drinking water, a radio-telephone link and an 800-metre ski lift used for ski instruction, together with a hotel, a restaurant, a country coffee house, a grill restaurant, a grocer, a butcher and a greengrocer. It does not say in which months any of this operates.
There are two ways up. From the Gümüşhane-Trabzon road, pass the Zigana tunnel at the 50th kilometre and continue 3.5 kilometres on unsurfaced road. Those arriving by air can take a bus from Trabzon, 50 kilometres away on asphalt.
