The Artabel Lakes Nature Park lies in the Torul district of Gümüşhane and was declared a nature park in 1998. It holds five lakes within the village of Gülaçar, thought to have formed during the ice age, and the Artabel stream below them. There are more than fifteen further glacial lakes within the park, and one of the lakes in the Tarsun forests has an island in it.
The park covers 5,859,000 square metres. Summers here are hot and dry and winters cold. Its highest point is the Abdalmusa summit at 3,331 metres.
