Karşıyaka Tabiat Parkı covers 84 hectares in the Karşıyaka neighbourhood of central Gümüşhane and was declared on 2 April 2015, taking its name from the neighbourhood beside it. It lies about a kilometre from the city centre as the crow flies; by road it is reached along the route to the Gürgen settlement.
Part of the forest here was planted and part is natural, and the Directorate is clear about the distinction. Scots pine of both kinds makes up most of it, with aspen woodland alongside, and in places oak, wild pear, hawthorn, spindle, barberry and rowan join in to form mixed stands. Between them lie forest clearings, scrub, steep cliffs and rocky ground, meadow, and the roads and roadside habitats — a range of ecosystems in a small area, which is what the Directorate gives as the reason for its importance.
There are no facilities at present. Walking on the roads within the park is what visitors do.
