The İmera monastery, also called the monastery of Saint John Prodromos, stands in the village of Olucak in Gümüşhane, thirty-seven to thirty-eight kilometres from the district centre. According to written sources it was built in 1350 in the gothic manner and renewed in 1859 by the nun Roxane.
The monastery was declared a third-degree archaeological conservation site in 2009, and its restoration began in 2019 with a budget of 160,000 lira.
It is built of cut and rubble stone and has three naves and three apses. The stone jamb at its door is ornamented with a frieze in three tiers, worked with bunches of grapes, geometric motifs and stylised plant forms.
