The Velespit Museum was created by Konya Metropolitan Municipality as part of the city's year as European Cycling Capital, and it opened on 16 February 2026. Fittingly, the opening was a ride rather than a ribbon: cyclists set off from the Konya Panorama Museum and finished at Kılıçarslan Meydanı, where the ceremony was held and the museum was then toured. The municipality's announcement of the opening does not describe what is shown inside.
