The mosque was built in 1892 by Peruste Rahime Sultan, wife of Abdülmecid. It is of rubble stone and brick, with arched windows on the front.
Its minaret came down in the earthquake of 17 August 1999 and was rebuilt afterwards.
The mosque is domed and carved inside, and it is one of the few to have kept its original form. Above the middle window of the front is the tuğra of Sultan Abdülmecid, and the minbar is original to the building.
There is no decorative painting inside; what catches the eye is Islamic writing set in frames, along with the original floor tiles at the front of the interior. The chandelier and the gallery are original too, and there is an Ottoman Turkish inscription on the landing. A graveyard lies on the left side of the mosque.
The road is asphalt and the mosque can be visited in any season.
