The mosque was built by the Ottoman vizier Hasan Fehmi Paşa; the provincial directorate gives no date, saying only that it is among the oldest mosques to have come down to the present.
It is built of stone, brick and timber, and the interior carries decorative work. A detailed restoration was completed recently and the mosque reopened for use.
The approach is on asphalt road and it is open to visitors in every season.
