Two kümbets stand inside the Şehit Osman military cemetery, on a high hill in the centre of Bayburt that is known after them as Şehit Osman Tepesi. They were built in the thirteenth century by the Saltukids, of cut yellow block stone laid as solid masonry, and roofed with cones.
According to written sources, the smaller tomb belongs to the sister of Mengüç Gazi and the larger to his brother Osman. The hill can be reached by car or by taxi from the centre; minibuses from the Clock Tower square run as far as the Şehit Osman Evleri area.
