The clocks of this tower were started on 29 October 1924. The reason it was built is recorded: men of Bayburt who fought in different parts of the country during the national struggle had seen clock towers where they served, and the tower was raised in imitation of them. In architectural manner it resembles the Çorum clock tower.
It rises from a circular base, with an eight-sided shaft and a square-plan pavilion on top. It is on Unutulmaz Caddesi in the centre of Bayburt.
