Sarıçiçek Yaylası lies north of Arapgir in Malatya and south of Divriği in Sivas, bordering on Eğin in Erzincan on one side. It takes its name from the yellow flowers seen on the pasture, and about 222 endemic plant species grow here. The historic Silk Road passed this way, and there are ancient remains in the district.
The pasture continues, as a ridge of Mesozoic limestone, past Eğerli Dağı at 2,275 metres to the Mamahar pass, which carries the road joining Divriği to Arapgir.
The valleys on the pasture are not deep, and almost the whole of it is covered by a thick layer of soil. Grass grows strongly on that deep soil, and both grass and water are plentiful.
