The Pülümür valley lies among steep, high mountains, and what defines it is the Pülümür stream running through it. The stream comes down from the Pülümür mountains, begins about twenty kilometres north of the Tunceli-Pülümür road and runs as far as Pülümür, joining the Munzur at Tunceli.
It flows through a narrow, steep valley whose sides are covered on both banks with dense forest, and the road between Tunceli and Pülümür follows it.
