POTA — the Polatlı Historic Sites Interpretation Centre — was set up by the municipality to do one thing the district had not managed before: tell a wide audience what the history around Polatlı actually is. This is Gordion country, the Phrygian capital, and the centre exists because that was not being explained.
The building has three floors, two of them arranged as museum, with a research and documentation centre alongside. It is open seven days a week and staffed.
Its work reaches beyond the display. Since 2017 POTA has worked with other institutions to raise awareness of the region's heritage, including toward Gordion's inscription on the World Heritage List.
