The Panorama Konya Museum stands in the Karatay district of Konya, about five hundred metres beyond the Mevlâna Museum. It is a panoramic museum in which the daily life of thirteenth-century Konya and the Mevlevi tradition are brought to life with various materials, and it is the second complete panorama museum finished in Türkiye. The sema Mevlâna performed in the covered market appears in the panorama, along with figures of historic medreses, mosques, walls, soldiers, sultans and people of different nations.
The main entrance is built in the manner of Seljuk portals, with miniatures of Mevlevi lodges at the entrance. In the open courtyard at the centre are twenty miniatures of Mevlevi lodges chosen from Türkiye and from around the world, and the seventeen domes ringing the courtyard represent the lodge of Mevlâna. Two stairways lead from the courtyard into the museum proper: the Mevlâna Gate and the Şems Gate.
When to go
The museum holds the status of a private museum under the directorate of museums of the Konya metropolitan municipality, so the Müzekart is not valid here. Entry is free for visitors over sixty-five, for children of six and under, and for disabled visitors.
