This eighteenth-century Turkish house in Kütahya is known locally as the Hungarian House. Lajos Kossuth, one of the leaders of the Hungarian war of independence, was hosted in Kütahya between 1850 and 1851 together with his family and a group of 56 refugees, and it was in this house that he prepared his draft constitution for Hungary.
The house is wooden, of two storeys and seven rooms, standing in a garden. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism restored it and arranged it as a museum in Kossuth's memory, opening it on 19 September 1982. On display are objects belonging to Kossuth along with ethnographic material of the classical Turkish house. It is on Macar Sokak in the Börekçiler quarter, 900 metres from the town centre, and the number 9 public bus serves it.
