The mosque takes its name from its domes, which are covered with lead. It was built in 1738-39 at Harput, and the provincial directorate counts it among the finest examples of the Ottoman-period mosques there.
It is rectangular in plan; the square prayer hall is covered by a dome with four windows in its drum, the porch for latecomers has three domes, and the minaret is of cut stone.
