Küçük Akgöl is an alluvial dam lake ringed by natural forest, and the recreation ground beside it sits inside a second-degree natural conservation site.
Walking and mountain biking around the lake are what the provincial directorate names, along with picnicking. There is a private catering facility on the site and, separately, an independent picnic and recreation area.
One walk leads somewhere in particular: the historic Harmentepe castle can be reached on foot from the picnic ground, two kilometres away. The approach is on asphalt road and the area can be visited in any season.
