The nature park on the shore of Lake Hazar was declared in July 2011 and takes its name from the lake. It is 22 kilometres from the centre of Elazığ and five from Sivrice, within the bounds of Güney village, and it covers 22.51 hectares.
It is laid out for day visitors and also has units for overnight stays; capacity is given as 3,000 visitors, 700 vehicles and 120 tents. Opening hours run from 08:00 to 23:00. The trees are pine and broadleaf together — black pine, cedar and Scots pine among the conifers, plane, acacia, almond, maple and ash among the rest. From Elazığ take the Diyarbakır road and turn off to the left before the Sivrice junction; from Sivrice, follow the same road and take the right turn after leaving the town.
