This building is private property today and is lived in as a house, so it is not a place to go inside. It stands in the centre of Çemisgezek.
From its inscription the medrese is understood to have been built in 1861-62, in the time of Sultan Abdülhamid II as the source puts it. The inscription, written by Hacı Hayri of Harput, says that His Majesty Sultan Hamid founded this medrese for the seeker of knowledge, that his servant Hayri wrote the date in jewels, and that this house of teaching should be a centre of everlasting bounty. It served as a medrese for many years; after the medreses were abolished it was used for a time in the republican period as a courthouse, and was later sold to private owners.
