The Traditional Kitchen Museum is itself an exhibit: a historic Urfa house with five rooms, two water wells and a wide courtyard, which the municipality's account calls one of the indispensable examples of the type. The building is the Hacıbanlar house, and it was close to collapse when the Şanlıurfa municipality bought it in 2011, restored it and turned it into a museum.
Inside are the old kitchen implements of Şanlıurfa, gathered from the past up to the present day. Rather than being laid out in cases alone, the objects that matter most to the city's kitchen culture are presented in scenes, with mannequins dressed in the clothing of the Urfa region using them. The museum also runs courses in the cooking of the region.
