The Eski Ömeriye Mosque stands in the Tütüncü Pazarı in Şanlıurfa, and what it offers is a sequence of four inscriptions marking its long life. The one over the outer door states that the mosque was built during the caliphate of Omar, between 634 and 644.
The repair inscription in the porch records that the building was repaired in 1301 by Ustad Muhammed Ağa, son of Ahmed Hacı Durmus Siraceddin. A stone lying in the mosque garden carries an inscription stating that Hacı Firuz Beg, son of Ali Beg, had the mosque repaired in 1772. The inscription in the right-hand window of the porch in the courtyard records a restoration in 1911, in the reign of Sultan Mehmed Reşad, and the inscription on the eastern side of the inner door carries the same Hijri year, written by the Urfa calligrapher Behçet Arabi. The mosque is on Alpan Sokak in the Gumuskusak quarter.
