The Gürcü Kapı, or Aliağa, Mosque was built in 1608 in the centre of Erzurum by Zakreci Ali Ağa, head of the janissaries in the city. It is a historic mosque carrying the features of Ottoman architecture.
It stands in the Aliağa quarter of the Yakutiye district and is known locally by the name of the quarter it is in, as the Gürcü Kapı Mosque.
The Gürcü Kapı — the Georgian gate — was one of the gates in the walls that ringed the old city of Erzurum. It stood in the northern part of the city and carried that name because the road to the historical lands of Georgia began there. The gate itself has not survived.
