Guide

Eski Pazar was the second settlement of Ordu, and the mosque here was founded around 1380 by the Haciemiroglu family. It is rectangular in plan. It was repaired in 1781 by Hüseyin Battal Pasha, governor of Şebinkarahisar, and having been ruined by an earthquake it was repaired again at the beginning of the last century. Know what survives of the original: only the entrance door and its portal. The present minaret was built in 1877 on the base of the old one and repaired by the General Directorate of Foundations in 1994. The window shutter and the minbar, fine examples of woodcarving, are not in the mosque — they are displayed at the Ethnography Museum in Ankara.

There are two baths beside the mosque. The large bath, on its south side, has the three usual sections, cold, warm and hot; it is rubble stone outside and regular dressed stone inside, covered with domes and vaults, and is a sixteenth-century building. The small bath, to the northeast, consists of a single square space with its water tank and is thought to date from the eighteenth century. The site is six kilometres from central Ordu, on the road towards the botanical garden and the Kurul castle.
