Emecik Canyon, also known as the Gavur Deligi canyon, lies in the mountains between the Emecik and Cevizli quarters of the Çameli district of Denizli. The canyon and its surroundings were registered in 2019 as a qualified natural conservation area. The route through it is three kilometres long and the walk takes four to five hours on average, with no technical difficulty; it is marked according to the Grande Randonnée system so that walkers can follow it unaccompanied. Rafting is organised here, mainly in spring and autumn.
What you see along the way is water. The stream runs through the canyon in every season and, over breaks in gradient and around large rock blocks, has formed hundreds of waterfalls of various sizes. Freshwater springs on the canyon floor support stream fish and crabs. The rock walls change in colour and texture from place to place, and the canyon narrows and widens over short distances; where the width drops below five metres, the sheer walls and the bends of the stream give the most striking views.
