The museum sets out to hold the traces beekeeping has left behind it, to make bees and beekeeping loved by later generations, to pass on technical knowledge to beekeepers accurately and in practice, and to encourage the use of bee products while helping consumers judge them.
The primary school of Yağcılar village was allocated by the ministry of national education to Adnan Menderes University on 10 March 2012. Work on the museum itself had begun earlier, under protocols signed on 8 December 2009 and 15 March 2010 between the rectorate of that university, on behalf of its Çine vocational school, the municipality of Çine and the Çine development foundation.
The museum opened at a ceremony on 4 October 2010. The directorate describes it as the first beekeeping museum in Türkiye and the seventy-first in the world. It was given the status of a private museum by permission of the ministry of culture and tourism on 23 December 2010.
The project was directed by the lecturer Mustafa Kösoğlu, and the architectural design was the work of the architect and engineer Cengiz Bektaş.
Besides a teaching hall seating forty, prepared for courses, seminars and other training, the museum has a cafeteria, a children's playground, a painting workshop and a games area where Roman and Turkish games two thousand years old are set out. It continues its work with the support of the Çine vocational school, the municipality and the development foundation.
