The Cimcime Hatun tomb tower stands within the city walls of Erzurum, and its inscription dates it to 1304. Who it was built for is not settled. Local usage calls it Cimcime Hatun; Osman Turan, in his history of the Turkish states of eastern Anatolia, records that the tomb belongs to Cemcem, one of the conquerors of the time of Tuğrul Bey, while Abdürrahim Şerif Beygu, in his work on the history, monuments and inscriptions of Erzurum, holds that the name belongs to one of the emirs of Erzurum who did not pass into the histories.
The building is regular cut stone, with a cylindrical base and a cylindrical body inside and out, covered by a dome within and a conical cap outside. Some of the stones carrying the names of those buried here have been lost. Only one headstone still allows an identification: from the prayer inscribed on its inner face it is understood to belong to a woman. The tomb is on the Cumhuriyet Caddesi route in the centre of Erzurum.
