Çatak Canyon is in the Azdavay district of Kastamonu, seven kilometres from the district centre. Getting to the viewpoint is part of the visit: six of those kilometres are driveable and the last one is a walking trail through the forest, ending at a terrace 900 metres up, from where the canyon runs out of sight in both directions.
The canyon itself begins a kilometre or two below the Çatak bridge. It is interrupted at the village of Nalbantoglu and then continues unbroken as far as İnönü. Note that the Ministry's description says the canyon is seven kilometres from "the centre" without naming which one, while the travel information on the same page gives that distance from Azdavay; the district reading is the one followed here.
