The house is in the village north of Eceabat known as Çamyayla or Boğalı. Lieutenant Colonel Mustafa Kemal was appointed on 1 February 1915 to the 19th Division, formed shortly before the Çanakkale fighting; he put his division together very quickly, moved to Eceabat on 25 February and to the Bigalı area on 24 March. He used this house as his headquarters for fifteen days in 1915 and prepared his attack plans here.
The house was transferred to the ministry in 1973 and formally made a house museum. The Directorate of the Gallipoli Historic Area began another restoration in February 2017 and reopened it on 10 August 2018.
It belonged to Bigalı Hüseyin Ağa, the village headman of the day, and served as the divisional headquarters. It has two floors and is built in the bağdadî technique, a plastered timber frame, and is entered through an inner courtyard added later.
Restored to modern museum practice, the display sets out Mustafa Kemal's part in the Çanakkale battles, his duties and his activities in order, using hyper-realistic figures. Alongside that are objects representing daily life of the period, together with uniforms and personal effects thought to have belonged to him.
