This museum at Çatalca opened on 20 December 2010, and the Ministry describes it as the first museum in Türkiye on the theme of migration. It was set up within the work of the Cultural Heritage and Museums Directorate of the İstanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency, together with the Lausanne Exchange Foundation and the municipality of Çatalca.
What is shown is domestic: the clothes, kitchen implements, written documents, photographs and keepsakes of the families who went through the exchange. It is meant for the Greek and Turkish citizens who were exchanged, their children and grandchildren and relatives, and anyone else with an interest in it. The museum is at Bahar Sokak No: 4 in the Kaleiçi quarter; buses to Çatalca leave from Yenibosna.
