Akdağ National Park straddles a provincial boundary, lying partly in Sandıklı district of Afyonkarahisar and partly in Çivril district of Denizli. The page records two declaration dates: the area record gives 29 June 2000, while the text states that the park was declared by Presidential Decision no. 8107 published in the Official Gazette of 17 January 2024. The same page also says the site was previously a nature park whose status was changed to national park, without connecting that change to either date. Its area is equally unresolved: the text gives 15,933 hectares and the area record 15.93.
The directorate describes the park's value as a combination of mountains, forest, water sources, a canyon, caves, high pastures and cultural remains, and it records 71,487 visitors a year without saying for which year. The activities it lists follow that terrain: mountaineering, bird and wildlife watching, photo safari, caravan and tent camping, cave trips, canyon crossings, and walking, cycling and riding.
One caution about camping. The directorate states that the tent and caravan camping area has neither an approved site plan nor infrastructure, and that the park's analytical survey and long-term development plan are still being prepared. Existing site plans date from when the area was a nature park and cover the Kocayayla day-use area, the country houses and the Sığırkuyruğu day-use area. What is in place is ten country houses, three day-use units, one tent camping area and one caravan camping area, together with children's play areas, day-use grounds, a country restaurant, local produce outlets, a prayer room and toilets. Stated visitor capacity is 12,000, and the gates open from 08:30 to 17:30.
The park is 95 kilometres from Afyonkarahisar city and, in two places on the same page, 35 or 36 kilometres from Sandıklı. It is approached by the Sorkun village road, the Sandıklı-Menteş village road, or the road from Çivril in Denizli. Sandıklı Municipality holds the concession at the Wildlife Training Centre.
