The date of this mosque in the Boztepe quarter, on the high ground above Trabzon, is not known, and the source says plainly that there is no certain information about the complex.
What is recorded is an account by Şemsettin Sami: that in the reign of Sultan Orhan, Ahi Evren had a dervish lodge built, and that it stood where the mosque and tomb are today. A mosque of the same name was built here afterwards, and it has come down to the present because Hacı Hakkı Baba had it repaired in 1888, in the reign of Abdülaziz.
