The Tavanlı mosque is one of Trabzon's characteristic roofed mosques, built in 1874 by the Nemlizade family, its thick stone walls showing careful work. Light comes from windows on all the fronts, and a wooden gallery stands over the entrance end of the prayer hall.
The stone mihrab is what to look at: its borders are carved in relief with trees rising from a vase and with curling branches. The minbar was kept plain, and the wooden ceiling of the prayer hall has a boss at its centre. The mosque is on Nemlioğlu Konak Sokak in the Gazipaşa quarter.
