This is a museum about letterforms, run by Anadolu University but sitting in the old town rather than on campus — Akcami Mahallesi, Şeyh Sadık Sokak No 2, in Odunpazarı. Its subject is writing as an art: calligraphy, typography and graphic design, with the words of Yunus Emre as the thread running through it.
The collection has an unusual origin. The university's graphic arts department invited calligraphers, graffiti artists, type designers and other artists from Türkiye and abroad to the International Anatolian Calligraphy and Typography Event, and the work they made there became the museum's holdings. Each interpreted Yunus Emre's lines in their own idiom, so the same words appear in very different hands.
Beyond the permanent collection the museum runs workshops, talks and temporary exhibitions in the history of writing and in type design.
