The Yumurtalık lagoon is described by the source as one of the wetland systems in Türkiye where the ecological relationships are the most delicate and at the same time the most complex. It covers 16,979.94 hectares, was registered as a nature conservation area in 1994 and as a Ramsar site in 2005.
Two kinds of ecosystem are distinguished here: the aquatic one, made up of the lakes and lagoons and the salt marshes around them, and the terrestrial one, made up of the wide dune systems between the lagoons and the sea together with the Aleppo pine wood in the north-east. The area is 30 kilometres from both Yumurtalık and Karataş and 70 from Adana, and there are two ways in: the Çamlık Dalyanı road running south from the exit of Deveciusağı on the Yumurtalık-Karataş highway, and the road from Kaldırım to the Yelkoma Dalyanı. It is open 06:00 to 19:00.
