The canyon lies within the villages of Karakaş and Hoca in the Yığılca district, 55 kilometres from Düzce. It sits on the road to the Yedigöller national park, which puts it easily within reach of anyone taking that route.
Forest runs the length of the canyon — fir, beech, black pine and oak — with a great many pools and waterfalls of various sizes along it, viewpoints and rest areas, and clear running water.
What people come here to do is walk, photograph, picnic for the day, fish with a rod, climb the canyon and cycle.
