Usta Şagirt Kümbeti stands south of the Meydanlık cemetery at Ahlat, close to Lake Van. Because it is the largest of the Ahlat tomb towers it is also called Ulu Kümbet, the great tomb tower.
It has no inscription, so when it was built is not known — and the provincial directorate offers no estimate, not even a century.
Like the other Seljuk tomb towers it is built on two levels: the lower one as a burial chamber, the upper one as a mescit.
