Tarsus Museum stands within the 75th Year Cultural Centre on Muaffak Uygur Caddesi, with the Gözlükule mound to its east. It opened in 1971 in the historic Kubat Paşa medrese in the town centre and moved to its present site in 1999.
Archaeological works are displayed in the basement. Tarsus has been settled since antiquity and holds a rich archaeological inheritance; the works found at Gözlükule are among those shown here. The entrance floor holds ethnographic material of Turkmen life, and a Tarsus house corner has been arranged in this section. The administrative offices are on the upper floor.
When to go
The museum is open every day of the week except Monday, from 8.30 to 16.45.
